Pat Jayne wins Franchisee of the Year Award

Franchisee of the Year: A Tribute to Pat Jayne

(Editor's Note: Don Lowe had the honor of presenting this year's Franchisee of the Year award at Convention. The following is Don's presentation announcing this prestigious award.)

First given in 1978, the Sir Speedy Franchisee of the Year Award has been presented to 32 franchisees who have promoted and supported our brand, our network and the franchise concept.

It has been said that the greatness of a man can be defined by the challenges he's faced in his lifetime. If true, the man we recognize tonight is a great man.

With his devout faith...his intellect...and his perseverance, he has learned to cope with family tragedy and the nearness of business failure.

Coming from a background of sales and sales management in large corporations, he bought his Sir Speedy center 16 years ago. Ten years ago the jury was still out on his success.

He is a student of business—an avid reader of books on business, motivation and future technologies. He is a thinker. But more importantly, he's an implementer.

Ten years ago he decided that he was going to be a big printer or no printer at all. He bought into technology. One of the first to own a QuickMaster DI, he now has a six-color Heidelberg press, a Xerox iGen3, and every front-end system that he thought could improve his efficiency or give him a chance to sell value-added services. Then he bought a building to house all of his new toys.

He was an early provider of variable print and of our new integrated direct marketing technology, and he learned firsthand what his customers liked because he talked with them face-to- face. He is one of the best sellers I have ever met.

His center was a test location for Lean Six Sigma, and he shared that experience with our network. He has never been afraid to speak his mind and feels free to voice his feedback and honest critique of our programs or performance. When he does, I listen.

He is always willing to talk with other franchisees and offer his guidance and help. He is very active in attending industry events and is currently a member of OMAC, our Workflow Advisory Council and a Sir Speedy Board Group.

He is passionate about his son and daughter, passionate about his business and passionate about our franchise network. Ladies and gentlemen, join me in paying tribute to Pat Jayne of Charlotte, NC.
